Part-Time Physiotherapist - Contractor Position

Position Title: Physiotherapist
Location: South Eastern Suburbs and Mornington Peninsula
Reports To: Head Physiotherapist
Employment Type: Part-time (7.5 - 15 hours per week) with potential for additional hours if desired

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physiotherapist to join our team, providing high-quality physiotherapy services to clients under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). An essential aspect of this role is the flexibility and ability to travel to participants' homes for home-based visits. This role will involve working with individuals with a variety of disabilities, assisting them to improve their mobility, strength, and overall physical function. The successful candidate will be responsible for  conducting assessments, and developing tailored treatment plans to enhance the quality of life of NDIS participants. 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Assessment and Planning:
    • Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for NDIS participants, identifying individual needs and goals.
    • Develop and implement personalised treatment plans and interventions tailored to the participant’s goals, in collaboration with the participant, family, carers, and the broader support team.
    • Regularly review and update treatment plans, adjusting strategies as required based on progress or changing needs.


  • Treatment and Intervention:
    • Provide direct physiotherapy interventions aimed at improving movement, strength, balance, coordination, and overall physical function.
    • Educate participants, their families, and carers on injury prevention, mobility aids, and exercises to improve function and independence.
    • Offer a range of treatment modalities, including manual therapy, exercise programs, functional training, and therapeutic interventions.


  • Collaborative Care:
    • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure holistic care.
    • Attend care team meetings and case conferences to contribute to the development of participants' care plans and provide insights on physiotherapy interventions.


  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and timely records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and NDIS reports in accordance with organizational and NDIS requirements.
    • Prepare and submit NDIS reports, including progress reports and recommendations for ongoing support, in a timely manner.


  • Advocacy and Empowerment:
    • Advocate for the needs and rights of participants, ensuring that they receive the appropriate services and resources to achieve their goals.
    • Empower participants by promoting self-management strategies, goal setting, and fostering independence in daily activities.


  • Professional Development:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with NDIS requirements, physiotherapy practices, and disability-specific knowledge.
    • Participate in regular supervision and peer support meetings to enhance skills and ensure high-quality service delivery.


Skills and Qualifications:

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent).
  • Full and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Own car and valid driver’s license (for travel to client homes and community settings).

Experience and Skills:

 

  • A minimum of 3 years Physiotherapy experience 
  • Demonstrated experience working with people with disabilities, preferably within the NDIS framework.
  • Strong understanding of NDIS funding models, processes, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with participants, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Experience working in a community or home-based setting is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
